6 Week Wednesday Afternoon Wheelwork with Ian Gwynne – November

We are delighted that tutor Ian Gwynne, will be leading this popular afternoon class at Sundragon Community Pottery.

Ian’s work is all about the refinement of form, and experimental surface decoration.

This course takes place in our beautiful basement studio, in Moseley School of Art.

This six week course starts on Wednesday 4th November 2026, and will take place every Wednesday afternoon from 1.30 pm – 4.00 pm

This course takes place over six weeks.  Each class runs for 2 1/2 hours.

During the course you will learn how to,  “wedge”/prepare the clay for throwing, and you will throw pots on the potter’s wheel.

On the wheel you will learn centering, and then methods to make vessels.

You will also learn “turning”, the process of tidying up the base of your pots.

You will learn about surface decoration, using coloured slips, and various glazing techniques.

Throughout the course you will also learn “good studio practice”, the art of keeping your work area as clean/tidy as possible, thus, benefiting everyone.
